Cookie Clicker Dragon Guide: How to Train Krumblor and the Best Dragon Auras

Krumblor, the cookie dragon, is the single biggest permanent multiplier most players leave on the table. A fully trained dragon doubles your entire cookie production with one aura, and with the second aura slot you can stack that with a wrinkler boost, a golden cookie boost or a click boost. This guide covers how to unlock the dragon, exactly what every training level costs, what each of the 21 auras does, and which two auras to run for idle, active and late-game play. Every number below is taken from the v2.058 game code running on this site, not from an old wiki page.

How to unlock Krumblor

1. Ascend at least once and buy the heavenly upgrade A crumbly egg. It costs 25 heavenly chips and sits in the middle of the ascension tree. If you are not sure when to reset, read the ascension guide first.
2. Back in the game, once you have baked 1 million cookies, a dragon egg appears in the store, just under the upgrades. Click it to open the dragon panel.
3. Press Chip it to start training. The panel shows the cost of the next level, and each level unlocks a new aura.

Every dragon training level and its cost

The first five levels cost cookies. After that, each level sacrifices 100 of one building type, in store order from Cursor to You. Yes, that means selling 100 Idleverses and 100 Cortex Bakers eventually. Plan for it rather than being surprised by it.

Selling buildings to feed the dragon lowers your CpS, so do it right after buying a fresh batch rather than dipping below a round number you rely on. Selling never removes achievements you already earned.

All 21 dragon auras explained

You pick an aura by clicking the dragon’s aura slot. Switching is free while you own no buildings; otherwise it costs one of your most powerful building, so decide on a setup and leave it rather than flipping auras every few minutes.

• Breath of Milk — kittens are 5% more effective.
• Dragon Cursor — clicking is 5% more powerful.
• Elder Battalion — grandmas gain +1% CpS for every non-grandma building you own. With 1,500 other buildings that is +1,500% on grandmas.
• Reaper of Fields — golden cookies may trigger a Dragon Harvest: 15× CpS for 60 seconds.
• Earth Shatterer — buildings sell back for 50% instead of 25%.
• Master of the Armory — all upgrades are 2% cheaper.
• Fierce Hoarder — all buildings are 2% cheaper.
• Dragon God — +5% to the CpS effect of your prestige level.
• Arcane Aura — golden cookies appear 5% more often.
• Dragonflight — golden cookies may trigger a Dragonflight: 1,111× click power for 10 seconds.
• Ancestral Metamorphosis — golden cookies give 10% more cookies.
• Unholy Dominion — wrath cookies give 10% more cookies.
• Epoch Manipulator — golden cookie effects last 5% longer.
• Mind Over Matter — random drops (seeds, eggs, dragon drops) are 25% more common.
• Radiant Appetite — all cookie production multiplied by 2. The best aura in the game.
• Dragon’s Fortune — +123% CpS per golden cookie on screen, multiplicative. Two cookies on screen is roughly 5× CpS.
• Dragon’s Curve — sugar lumps grow 5% faster and are twice as likely to be unusual (bifurcated, golden, meaty, caramelized).
• Reality Bending — one tenth of every other aura, combined.
• Dragon Orbs — with no buffs and no golden cookies on screen, selling your most powerful building has a 10% chance to summon a golden cookie.
• Supreme Intellect — extra powers in the minigames (see the bottom of each minigame panel for the exact effect).
• Dragon Guts — you can attract 2 more wrinklers, wrinklers digest 20% more cookies, and they explode into 20% more cookies.

Best dragon auras: which two to use

Idle play (leave the tab open, check in now and then)

Radiant Appetite + Dragon Guts. Radiant Appetite is a flat 2× on everything, and Dragon Guts turns the ten wrinklers you keep during the Grandmapocalypse into twelve, each digesting and returning more. If you are not running wrinklers, use Radiant Appetite + Breath of Milk instead. With a big kitten collection, Breath of Milk is the strongest passive after Radiant Appetite. Active play (clicking golden cookies and combos)

Radiant Appetite + Dragonflight for raw click bursts, or Radiant Appetite + Reaper of Fields if you are chaining Frenzy and Dragon Harvest with Force the Hand of Fate. One thing the wiki lists get wrong: Dragonflight does not stack with Click Frenzy. When it triggers, the game ends an active Click Frenzy 80% of the time. Treat it as a replacement for Click Frenzy and stack it with a Frenzy (7× CpS) instead; 1,111× clicks on top of a Frenzy is the biggest number most players will ever see. Late game, hunting achievements and drops

Radiant Appetite + Mind Over Matter while you are farming garden seeds, Easter eggs or the four dragon drops. Swap Mind Over Matter for Dragon’s Curve when you are waiting on sugar lumps to level up minigames. Sugar lump timing is in the sugar lumps guide.

Before you have the second slot

Radiant Appetite as soon as you reach it (level 19 in the table above), no exceptions. Earlier than that, Breath of Milk if you have kittens, otherwise Elder Battalion once you have a few hundred buildings.

Petting the dragon and the four dragon drops

The heavenly upgrade Pet the dragon lets you click Krumblor once hatched. Petting has a small chance to drop one of four upgrades:

• Dragon scale — +3% cookie production.
• Dragon claw — clicking is 3% more powerful.
• Dragon fang — golden cookies give 3% more cookies, and Dragon Harvest and Dragonflight are 10% stronger.
• Dragon teddy bear — random drops are 3% more common.

Each drop’s price scales with your CpS but is far cheaper with a fully trained dragon, so finish training before you buy them. Mind Over Matter makes the drops appear faster.

Dragon FAQ

Does the dragon reset when I ascend?

Yes. Ascending resets dragon level and auras. The heavenly upgrade stays, so the egg is back in the store as soon as you bake 1 million cookies again. Re-training to Radiant Appetite is one of the first things experienced players do after every ascension.

Is it worth selling 100 of each building?

Yes, and it is worth doing early. Two hundred Cortex Bakers is a lot, but Radiant Appetite alone pays for everything within minutes at that stage, and you only need 100 of each to unlock it.

Why can’t I change my aura?

Changing costs one of your highest-tier building. If you cannot afford to lose one, or the panel says the change will affect your CpS and you clicked cancel, the aura stays. Selling a single building is fine; the CpS dip is tiny compared with the aura you are switching to.

What does Reality Bending actually give?

One tenth of every aura: 0.5% kittens, 0.5% clicks, 0.2% cheaper buildings, and so on, plus a 10% version of the Radiant Appetite multiplier. It is a fun aura but almost always worse than picking two strong auras outright.

Can I train the dragon with cheats?

On the browser version you can set the level from the console. The cheats page has the tested commands for this exact build, including the one that refreshes the dragon panel afterwards.
