Cookie Clicker Seasons Guide: Every Seasonal Drop Explained
Cookie Clicker has five seasons: Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentine’s Day and Business Day. Each one brings its own set of collectible upgrades, and most of those upgrades are permanent cookie production boosts that are easy to miss if you only play in, say, March. This guide covers when each season starts on its own, how to trigger any season yourself with the Season switcher, how every seasonal drop works, and the order to collect them in. The drop rates and prices come from the v2.058 game code running on this site, not from an old wiki page.
When each season starts on its own
The game checks your computer’s date when it loads. If today falls inside one of these windows, the season is switched on automatically and costs nothing:
| Season | Natural dates | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Valentine’s Day | February 10 โ 15 | 7 heart biscuits |
| Business Day | March 31 โ April 2 | Cosmetic only (corporate building names and news) |
| Easter | The 7 days up to and including Easter Sunday | 20 eggs |
| Halloween | October 24 โ 31 | 7 spooky cookies |
| Christmas | December 15 โ 31 | Santa (14 gifts + Santa’s dominion), reindeer, 7 Christmas cookies |
Outside those dates you need the Season switcher, which is where most serious collecting happens.
The Season switcher: triggering any season yourself
Season switcher is a heavenly upgrade that costs 1,111 heavenly chips and sits under Heralds in the ascension tree. Once you own it, five biscuits appear in your upgrade store, one per season:
- Festive biscuit โ Christmas
- Bunny biscuit โ Easter
- Ghostly biscuit โ Halloween
- Lovesick biscuit โ Valentine’s Day
- Fool’s biscuit โ Business Day
Buying one starts that season for 24 hours and ends whatever season was running. The price is 1 billion cookies + 60 seconds of your unbuffed CpS ร 1.5n, where n is how many times you have already switched this ascension. The first switch costs about one minute of production, the fifth about five minutes, the tenth about 38 minutes. The counter resets when you ascend, so plan one season at a time instead of flipping back and forth.
If you slot Selebrak, Spirit of Festivities in the Pantheon, seasonal drops come faster, but switching costs 100% more in the diamond slot (50% ruby, 25% jade). It pays for itself during a long collecting session, not for a single switch.
Christmas: Santa, reindeer and Christmas cookies
Santa’s 14 gifts
During Christmas, A festive hat unlocks in the store once you have baked 25 cookies. It costs 25 cookies and adds a Santa panel next to your milk. Each time you level Santa up you get one random gift from a list of 14. Leveling from level L costs (L+1)L+1 cookies: 1, 4, 27, 256โฆ and the last level costs about 11 quadrillion. Reaching level 14 unlocks Santa’s dominion (+20% CpS, buildings 1% cheaper, upgrades 2% cheaper).
Every gift costs 2,525 ร 3Santa level cookies, so it gets more expensive each time Santa grows. Buy each gift the moment it drops, before you level Santa again. The gifts:
- Increased merriness and Improved jolliness โ +15% CpS each.
- A lump of coal and An itchy sweater โ +1% CpS each.
- Santa’s legacy โ +3% CpS per Santa level (+45% at level 14).
- Naughty list โ grandmas twice as efficient.
- Santa’s milk and cookies โ milk 5% more powerful (see the milk and kittens guide).
- Santa’s helpers โ clicking 10% more powerful.
- Santa’s bottomless bag โ random drops 10% more common.
- Season savings โ buildings 1% cheaper. Toy workshop โ upgrades 5% cheaper.
- Reindeer baking grounds (reindeer twice as frequent), Weighted sleighs (reindeer twice as slow), Ho ho ho-flavored frosting (reindeer give twice as much).
Reindeer and the 7 Christmas cookies
Reindeer only fly across the screen during Christmas. Each one gives one minute of your CpS (minimum 25 cookies), halved during an Elder Frenzy and cut by a quarter during a Frenzy. Each reindeer also has a 20% base chance to drop one of 7 Christmas cookies: Christmas tree, Snowflake, Snowman, Holly, Candy cane, Bell and Present biscuits. Each costs about 252.5 billion cookies and adds +2% CpS. Collect all 7 for Let it snow, which makes these drops more common in every later run. Popping 1, 50 and 200 reindeer gives Oh deer, Sleigh of hand and Reindeer sleigher.
Easter: the 20 eggs
Eggs drop from two sources during Easter: clicking a golden cookie (10% base chance) and popping a wrinkler (2% base chance). Golden cookies are by far the better farm, so this is the season for an active, golden-cookie-heavy setup. Each drop has a 10% chance to be a rare egg. If you roll one you already own, the game rerolls once and then gives up.
- 12 common eggs (Chicken, Duck, Turkey, Quail, Robin, Ostrich, Cassowary, Salmon roe, Frogspawn, Shark, Turtle, Ant larva): +1% CpS each. Price = 999 ร 2eggs owned.
- 8 rare eggs, price = 999 ร 3eggs owned:
- Golden goose egg โ golden cookies appear 5% more often.
- Faberge egg โ buildings and upgrades 1% cheaper.
- Wrinklerspawn โ wrinklers explode into 5% more cookies.
- Cookie egg โ clicking 10% more powerful.
- Omelette โ other eggs appear 10% more often.
- Chocolate egg โ pays out 5% of your banked cookies when bought.
- Century egg โ CpS grows the longer the current run lasts, up to +10% at 100 days.
- “egg” โ a flat +9 CpS. It is a joke upgrade.
Two ordering tips. First, every egg gets more expensive as your egg count grows, and rare eggs scale faster (3n against 2n), so when a rare and a common egg are both waiting, buy the rare one first. Second, buy the Chocolate egg last and at your biggest bank, for example right after a golden cookie combo, because its payout is a share of what you are holding. Egg achievements come at 1, 7, 14 and 20 eggs. Hide & seek champion (all 20) makes eggs drop more often in future runs.
Halloween: 7 spooky cookies from wrinklers
Halloween cookies drop only when you pop a wrinkler: a 5% base chance per wrinkler, and a little better for a shiny wrinkler. That means you need the Grandmapocalypse running. Buy One mind and let the wrinklers spawn, then pop them as they feed. The wrinklers guide covers the setup. The seven cookies (Skull, Ghost, Bat, Slime, Pumpkin, Eyeball and Spider) cost about 444.4 billion each and give +2% CpS apiece. Owning all 7 gives Spooky cookies, which raises the drop rate from then on.
Wrinklers take a while to grow fat. If you are forcing Halloween with the Ghostly biscuit, buy it when all your wrinkler slots are already full, so the 24 hours are not spent waiting for spawns.
Valentine’s Day: 7 heart biscuits, no luck needed
Hearts are not random drops. During Valentine’s Day, Pure heart biscuits unlock once you have baked 50,000 cookies, and buying each heart unlocks the next one. Costs step up ร1,000 each time: 1 million, 1 billion, 1 trillion, 1 quadrillion, 1 quintillion, 1 sextillion and 1 septillion for the last, Prism heart biscuits. Each heart is worth +2% CpS, or +3% with the heavenly upgrade Starlove. All 7 give Lovely cookies. Late in a run you can buy all seven within a minute of flipping the Lovesick biscuit, so this is the cheapest season to complete.
Business Day
Business Day swaps building names and the news ticker for corporate jargon and has no collectibles. Its only mechanical effect comes from the heavenly upgrade Startrade: golden cookies appear 5% more often while Business Day is active.
Seasonal heavenly upgrades
Five upgrades hang off Season switcher in the ascension tree, each costing 111,111 heavenly chips:
- Starspawn โ eggs drop 10% more often; golden cookies 2% more often during Easter.
- Starsnow โ Christmas cookies drop 5% more often; reindeer appear 5% more often.
- Starterror โ spooky cookies drop 10% more often; golden cookies 2% more often during Halloween.
- Starlove โ heart biscuits are 50% more powerful (+3% each instead of +2%); golden cookies 2% more often during Valentine’s Day.
- Startrade โ golden cookies 5% more often during Business Day.
Above all five sits Keepsakes (1,111,111,111 heavenly chips): every seasonal drop you own has a 1 in 5 chance to survive an ascension. Until you own it, every egg, heart, spooky cookie, reindeer cookie and Santa gift is lost when you ascend, like every other upgrade. The ascension guide covers when a reset is worth it.
Best order to collect every season in one run
- Valentine’s Day first. No randomness and the whole set costs little late in a run. That is +14% CpS (or +21% with Starlove) before you start farming the other seasons.
- Christmas second. Santa’s gifts add +30% from merriness and jolliness alone, plus Santa’s legacy and Santa’s dominion. Level Santa to 14, buy every gift the moment it drops, and let reindeer fall in the background.
- Easter third, during an active session so you are clicking golden cookies. Leave the tab open during breaks, because wrinklers keep rolling for eggs.
- Halloween last, once your wrinkler slots are full.
A season you still need a few drops from can simply be left running for its full 24 hours instead of paying to switch again. Seasonal cookies also count toward achievements, which feed your milk, so the effect compounds with the achievements list.
Cookie Clicker seasons FAQ
How long does a season last in Cookie Clicker?
A season bought with the Season switcher lasts 24 hours of game time, or until you switch to another season. A natural season lasts for its calendar window.
Can I play Christmas or Easter outside the real holiday?
Yes. Buy the Season switcher heavenly upgrade (1,111 heavenly chips) and then buy the Festive or Bunny biscuit in the store.
Do I lose my eggs and seasonal cookies when I ascend?
Yes, unless you own Keepsakes, which gives each seasonal drop a 1 in 5 chance to stay.
Why am I not getting Halloween cookies?
They only drop from popped wrinklers, and wrinklers only appear during the Grandmapocalypse. Clicking golden cookies does nothing for Halloween.
