Base price of the first building and the cookies per second (CpS) one building makes before any upgrade, read from the game's own code (version 2.058). Every copy you own makes the next one 15% more expensive, and selling one gives back 25% of its current price.

Four buildings hide a minigame that opens when you raise them to level 1 with a sugar lump (sugar lumps start growing once you have baked 1 billion cookies in total): Farm → Garden, Bank → Stock Market, Temple → Pantheon, Wizard tower → Grimoire. More detail in our buildings guide.
Yes. Cookie Clicker runs entirely in your browser at no cost — there is nothing to buy, download or install. An account is optional: you only need one if you want your save kept on our server as well as in your browser.
The game auto-saves in your browser every 60 seconds. Click ☁ Sign in to save at the top of the game to make a free account (username and password, or Google) and every save is also stored on our server, so clearing the browser or switching computers does not lose your bakery. Without an account you can still move a save by hand with Export save and Import save in Options.
There is no fixed number, so plan by what you want to buy. The first prestige upgrades are cheap: Legacy costs 1 heavenly chip, Heavenly cookies 3, How to bake your dragon 9, Starter kit 50, Heavenly luck 77 and Permanent upgrade slot I 100. Persistent memory costs 500, so many players make their first ascension once it would give them a few hundred chips and go for Persistent memory on the next run.
Golden cookies appear at random and grant a temporary buff when clicked, such as Frenzy (7x production for 77 seconds), Lucky (a lump sum of cookies) or Click frenzy (777x clicking power). Always click one the moment you see it — they vanish after a few seconds.
Let them feed first. A wrinkler eats 5% of your production but returns 110% of everything it swallowed when you pop it, so leaving a full set of wrinklers attached and popping them later is a net gain.
This page is an ordinary website with nothing to download or install, so it opens on a school Chromebook like any other page. Whether it loads on a school network is up to that school: if the network blocks it, it stays blocked, so play at break or at home. Your bakery is saved in the browser you play in.
It opens in phone and tablet browsers, but the layout is the desktop game shrunk to fit, so it is much easier to play on a laptop, a Chromebook or a tablet in landscape. On a phone, the official Android app is the more comfortable choice.
